International Orange Chorale

News

Director's Blog:

Our spring season was a great success! We were so glad to see a very full audience at St Mark's in San Francisco! Our 55-2nd St. Open Dress Rehearsal was also well attended! On behalf of the 35 singers in International Orange Chorale, thank you for your support.

Now on to "Audience Favorite." In accordance with our tradition, we ask the audience to vote on their favorite piece and we always reprise the winning piece in our next season. Well how much does our audience rock? IÕll tell you. They voted for Sven- David Sandstrom's "A New Heaven" ("En Ny Himmel"), the kind of aggressively modern piece that one doesnÕt normally call a crowd pleaser! I'm pretty impressed with our audience for picking that one and we are excited to sing it again.

As those in attendance on Sunday know, Paul Kim is leaving IOCSF for Germany for a year to study music. When he returns he will be on our board but will not be our regular conductor. He will be missed but I'm pretty sure we'll hear from him again! His contribution to the life of this ensemble can not be overstated! I want to again publicly acknowledge his wonderful leadership over the past few years and thank him.

On a related note, I'm happy to welcome Zane Fiala as the co-conductor of IOCSF. Zane is a great addition and already his rapport with the ensemble is excellent, as displayed by his great conducting on Sunday of several pieces.

Stay tuned for info on our summer concert, which is being hosted by the Noontime Concert Series at Old St. Marys on Tuesday, July 29th at Noon. We'll be singing the Brahms Liebeslider Waltzes, New York: Night which I wrote with opera librettist Philip Littell back in 2003, and two selections from our spring concert. We will be appearing with San Francisco Piano Duo Patricia and Vera Purcell, our first instrumental collaboration in our five year history. We're excited to be invited to this series and hope to see you there. http://www.noontimeconcerts.org/

Thanks for reading and see you at our next concert!

Yours,
Jeremy Faust
