Who Are We?
The International Orange Chorale of San Francisco (IOCSF) is a renowned choral group dedicated to commissioning and performing new and innovative choral music, particularly from under-served and underrepresented populations and composers. We strive to create performances that are not only musically excellent but also socially relevant and impactful.

What is This Project?
Requiem for the Estranged is a unique choral work commissioned from the world-renowned composer Tarik O'Regan. This piece explores the complex emotions and experiences associated with estrangement, particularly focusing on adult estrangement where reconciliation is not the only or the desired outcome.  

What Are We Asking For?
We are reaching out to ask for your input on our project. Specifically, we are inviting members of Together Estranged to share their stories and experiences of estrangement through this questionnaire. Your insights will help us authentically express the multifaceted nature of estrangement through our music. 

We also are soliciting any general feedback on our process (specifically the contents of the questionnaire, and more thoughtful ways to discuss estrangement and to facilitate gathering stories for this work). 

Why Are We Asking This Group?
There are very few artistic works that address the justified experience of adult estrangement without focusing solely on reconciliation. By collaborating with individuals who have lived through complex familial estrangement, we aim to create a piece that is truthful and resonates deeply, and may offer some solace and some much needed visibility for those experiencing this specific form of grief.  Your responses will inform both the choral compositional and rehearsal processes, ensuring the work is as authentic and truthful as possible.  

We understand that everyone is at a different place in their journey, and not all may be ready to share or express their thoughts. Your participation is entirely voluntary and will be handled with the utmost care.
